The difference between joglos of this type from those found in other areas of Java are from the shape and position of the rafters which in the Solo and some Yogya forms, are shaped and arraigned like an umbrella from a suspended beam known locally as a "blandar gantung" and the rafter arrangement is known as "ksatrio pinayungan" as a knight(ksatria) is sheltered by an umbrella (payung). This sort of roof on a joglo is usually restricted to residences of nobility...
